The vase features a wonderfully organic mottled ivory and warm beige glaze accented by a bold hand-painted geometric band around the flared upper body. Black linear decoration is filled with dotted accents in white, muted gray-green, rust and ochre, giving the piece a distinctly Southwestern studio-pottery character.

The glossy black interior, rim and foot provide a dramatic contrast to the softly mottled exterior glaze. Its gently waisted form opens into a wide flared mouth, making this a handsome display piece with or without flowers.

The underside bears the handwritten “WEST” signature in white script associated with West Pottery.
