Offered here from the dougfinds collection of curated fashion, accessories, clothing, collectibles, and unique gifts is this vintage 1977 Schmid Beatrix Potter Tom Kitten porcelain music box, a wonderfully colorful representation of one of Beatrix Potter's most recognizable mischievous feline characters.

Standing proudly in his familiar powder-blue outfit with bright yellow buttons, Tom Kitten is rendered in glossy hand-painted porcelain atop a richly textured grassy green base. His expressive green eyes, painted whiskers, oversized ears and wonderfully rotund little shape give the figurine exactly the storybook personality that makes vintage Beatrix Potter pieces so appealing.

But this one isn't merely a figurine.

Wind the mechanical movement and Tom Kitten rotates atop the base while the music box plays “The Happy Wanderer.” The mechanism has been tested and is working properly; a demonstration video is included with the listing.

Collector highlights include:

• Authentic vintage Schmid Beatrix Potter musical figurine
• Tom Kitten character
• Dating to 1977
• Hand-painted glazed porcelain construction
• Manufactured in Japan
• Mechanical wind-up musical movement
• Figurine rotates while playing
• Plays “The Happy Wanderer”
• Beautiful dimensional grassy knoll base
• “Beatrix Potter” script incorporated into the base
• Original Schmid identification remains present underneath
• Approximately 6½ inches tall; please see photographed measurements

The condition is particularly nice for a nearly 50-year-old decorative music box. The porcelain retains a bright, glossy finish with vivid greens, soft blues and finely painted character details, and no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs were observed. The mechanical movement winds properly, rotates smoothly and plays clearly.

This is exactly the sort of vintage piece that crosses several collecting worlds — Beatrix Potter, Peter Rabbit, Tom Kitten, vintage Schmid, porcelain figurines and mechanical music boxes — while still being charming enough to display simply because it makes you smile.

Please review all photographs carefully, as they are considered part of the description and provide the best representation of this item's condition.
