Offered here from the dougfinds collection of
curated fashion, accessories, clothing, collectibles, and unique gifts is this lovely vintage Madame
Alexander 8” International Series Belgium doll.
This example dates to
the late 1950s to early 1960s era, supported by the “ALEX” back
marking and desirable jointed knee construction. The doll is dressed in a
traditional Belgian folk costume including blue dress, striped apron, red
shawl, and bonnet. The outfit retains its original “Belgium” tag and all snap
closures are present and working properly.
The doll features working
sleep eyes and retains good mobility in the head and limbs with original-style
rubber banding. Knees are jointed and the back impression reads 'Alex',
features associated with earlier Madame Alexander production.
Included is a vintage
Madame Alexander “Friends From Foreign Lands” booklet. This booklet is from a
later production period (1970s era) and is not original to this specific doll
but is appropriate to the International Series.
Also included is a vintage
Madame Alexander box base labeled “Switzerland 594,” with period handwriting
indicating “Belgium.” The box has a plain interior and includes tissue paper.
The handwritten labeling is consistent with vintage retail or ownership identification
practices. No lid is included.
A wonderful early example
of Madame Alexander’s International Series with desirable construction features
and strong display appeal.
