Offered here from the dougfinds collection of curated fashion, accessories, clothing, collectibles, and unique gifts is this vintage Otagiri Japan porcelain rotating music box featuring a sweet young girl sharing a quiet park-bench moment with a playful kitten while the music box plays the classic “You Are My Sunshine.”

This one has that wonderfully soft Otagiri look from top to bottom. The girl sits on a wooden-style garden bench dressed in delicate pastel blue, pink and ivory, wearing a floppy bonnet while a little white and peach kitten plays at her feet. Sculpted grass and flowers surround the scene, with additional flowers resting beside her on the bench.

And then there is the part a photograph can't quite deliver: wind the music box and the entire figurine rotates as “You Are My Sunshine” plays. We've fully tested both functions, and a video showing the music box playing and rotating will be included with the listing.

Details include:

• Vintage Otagiri porcelain music box
• Young girl seated on a garden bench with playful kitten
• Soft blue, pink, green, peach and ivory pastel palette
• Delicate sculpted flowers and garden details
• High-gloss glazed porcelain finish
• Mechanical wind-up music-box movement
• Plays “You Are My Sunshine”
• Figurine rotates smoothly while playing
• Music mechanism tested and working properly
• Original large metal winding disk underneath
• Original “You are my Sunshine – OTAGIRI JAPAN” label remains attached
• Approximately 6¼ inches tall
• Approximately 5 inches across at the base
• Working operation demonstrated in the included listing video

The original front label is an especially nice survivor. Rather than leaving the tune or maker to guesswork, it remains clearly marked “You are my Sunshine” above the Otagiri name and JAPAN designation.

The underside retains its wooden movement cover and oversized metal winding disk, and the music-box mechanism has been tested through its operation. It plays clearly and the porcelain scene rotates smoothly as intended.

Cosmetically, this piece presents exceptionally well. The glossy porcelain remains bright and clean, the delicate flowers, kitten, bonnet, bench and other projecting details all appear intact, and I find no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. Even the soft pastel coloration remains remarkably attractive.

There's also something about pairing You Are My Sunshine with this little scene that works perfectly. It could certainly join an Otagiri or vintage music-box collection, but it also makes a wonderful nostalgic display piece for a cat lover—or a gift for somebody who recognizes the song before the first few notes are finished.
