Offered here from the dougfinds collection of curated fashion, accessories, clothing, collectibles, and unique gifts is this vintage Meico Inc. porcelain nurse and kitten wind-up music box, crafted in Taiwan and featuring a wonderfully sweet scene of a young nurse surrounded by three very attentive feline patients.

There is a lot of charm packed into this little scene. The nurse stands in her traditional white uniform and cap with red cross, holding one kitten in her arm while another sits patiently at her feet and a third appears to be tucked into bed. Whether they're awaiting treatment or simply figured out where all the attention is being handed out, the cats have clearly taken over the place.

The figurine is rendered primarily in soft ivory and white with delicate pastel accents, expressive painted faces and a matte, bisque-style finish. A pale green ornamental border follows the scalloped lower edge of the music-box base, giving the otherwise restrained palette just enough color.

Details include:

• Vintage Meico Inc. decorative music box
• Nurse with three cats/kittens
• Traditional nurse cap with red cross
• Delicate hand-applied painted facial and color details
• Soft ivory/white palette with subtle pastel accents
• Matte bisque-style finish
• Scalloped pedestal music-box base
• Pale green ornamental border
• Mechanical wind-up movement
• Plays Brahms' Lullaby
• Tested and working properly
• Working operation demonstrated in included listing video
• Original winding key remains underneath
• Original gold-tone Meico Inc. Fine Giftware foil label intact
• Label identifies Taiwan R.O.C.
• Approximately 6 inches tall, as shown in the measurement photography

The underside retains its wooden movement cover and original gold foil manufacturer label reading MEICO INC. – HANDCRAFTED FINISH – FINE GIFTWARE – TAIWAN R.O.C. That's a particularly nice detail on a vintage giftware piece that has survived long enough for labels like this to frequently disappear.

The wind-up mechanism has been tested and operates properly, playing the familiar melody of Brahms' Lullaby. A video demonstrating the music box in operation is included with the listing, so its next owner doesn't have to take our word for it.

Cosmetically, this remains in excellent vintage condition. I find no chips, cracks, or repairs in the figurine, kittens or decorative base. There is some subtle age-related toning, light surface wear and small marks visible upon close inspection, particularly around the lighter surfaces and underside, all consistent with a displayed vintage piece.

Between the nurse, the kittens and the lullaby, this one has a pretty wide lane—an appealing vintage music box for a cat collector, nursing collectible display, Meico enthusiast, or a thoughtful gift for somebody whose professional life involves taking care of either people or four-legged troublemakers.

Please review all photographs carefully, as they are considered part of the description and provide the best representation of this item's condition.
