Offered here from the dougfinds collection of curated fashion, accessories, clothing, collectibles, and unique gifts is this Dowling Magnets Science Discovery Kits Magnet Levitation Kit, model 731100, a wonderfully hands-on STEM science set designed to explore magnetism, equilibrium, gravity and magnetic fields—including building an actual magnetic levitating train.

This is one of those science kits that gets considerably more interesting once the box is opened. Rather than simply demonstrating that two magnets repel each other, Dowling designed the set around five introductory magnetism experiments followed by five progressively more involved projects, allowing students to put the principles they just learned to work.

The kit was designed for ages 10+/grades 5+ and is particularly well suited for home STEM learning, classroom demonstrations, science-fair projects, homeschool activities or simply a young builder fascinated by how things work. The manufacturer continues to offer this same #731100 kit today.

Included here are the original illustrated box, molded storage tray, activity/instruction guide and the components shown in the photographs, including wood pieces, plastic guide rails, magnetic strips, compass and assorted magnetic/project components.

The original packaging carries a 2014 Dowling Magnets copyright and OE-03-15 marking, making this an earlier-packaged example of a science kit that remains in the Dowling product line today.

The contents appear exceptionally clean and well cared for. Because this kit contains numerous individual small components, however, I have not represented it as guaranteed 100% complete without individually inventorying every magnet and small piece. The photographs deliberately show the open kit and its contents so the buyer can see exactly what is included.

The outer presentation box remains quite attractive with some light age/storage wear, particularly around corners and edges, consistent with the photography.

And yes—the end goal really is to make a train float.
