Offered here
from the dougfinds collection of curated fashion, accessories, clothing,
collectibles, and unique gifts is this beautiful vintage Pamela Goldin studio
art pottery vase.
Overview
This hand-thrown stoneware vase was
created by Connecticut studio ceramic artist Pamela Goldin, a longtime
member and Key Member of the Wesleyan Potters craft guild in Middletown,
Connecticut. The vase features warm earth-tone stoneware with deeply carved
floral decoration executed using the traditional sgraffito technique, in
which the surface is carved to reveal contrasting clay beneath.
Its organic form, rich natural color,
and handcrafted details make it equally appealing to collectors of American
studio pottery and those seeking an authentic artisan accent for rustic,
farmhouse, Arts & Crafts, or contemporary interiors.
Features
Each vase was individually thrown on
the potter's wheel before being hand carved, making every example unique. The
floral motif wraps around the body of the vessel and is accented by subtle
throwing rings that remain visible beneath the finish, celebrating the handmade
nature of the piece.
The iron-rich stoneware clay develops
beautiful warm brown and bronze tones after firing, while the unglazed interior
and satin exterior create an earthy, tactile appearance prized by collectors of
studio ceramics.
Pamela Goldin has long been associated
with Wesleyan Potters, one of New England's best-known cooperative pottery
studios, where generations of artists have produced handcrafted functional and
decorative ceramics.

Condition
This vase is in very good vintage
condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs were observed during inspection. The
carved floral decoration remains crisp and well defined, and the original
surface retains its attractive natural matte finish. Minor variations in color,
texture, and throwing marks are original characteristics of handmade studio
pottery and should not be considered defects. The artist's signature, P.
Goldin, is incised into the underside.
